Sequoia Update

Tom Spelce
Development Environment Group, LLNL

LLNL expects to begin accepting the first racks of it’s 20PFlop Sequoia supercomputer in late 2011. This talk will survey the various activities LLNL is using to prepare for this new machine. With 1.6M cores and various new technologies deployed, a large group of potential users are working to extend current applications scalability using Dawn, a 500TFlop BG/P. In addition, new applications have been developed to help understand several of the new hardware features and to help software developers optimize and debug applications consisting of large MPI task counts and on node parallelism.
